✈️ I’m taking a break… ✈️

Hello!

It’s June my lovely friends! We are officially half way through the year now. It feels like time is truly flying 😭

I have something to tell you…I’m taking a break from travel for a bit. As a traveler, this is so sad but there’s a reason behind it. So let’s get into that.

I’m taking a break…

I had the opportunity to visit Puerto Rico in the beginning of April and I'm so happy I was able to do so! Then in May, I visited Las Vegas once again, only this time with my best friend. Lots of traveling and fun have been had from February to May, and I'm so happy and grateful I had the opportunity to do this.

However, I won't be traveling after this. Like I said, I’m taking a break from travel for a bit. Sad, I know 😔. However, it’s for a reason.

What’s the reason, you may ask? Well, I’ll be doing the Kilimanjaro trek in September and visiting Nigeria with a fellow travel buddy! This is so EXCITING and has been in the making for a couple of years now.

If you’ve been following me on Instagram and TikTok (@jojos_cup_of_mocha 😉), then you’ve seen how much I’ve been traveling this year already. Ireland in February, Norway in March, Puerto Rico in April, and Las Vegas in May.

In order to save more money for the trip, finish the planning process, get the rest of my gear, get the necessary visas and vaccinations, I’m taking a break from travel. But not permanently; it’ll be just for the summer (June to August).

My priority now is doing what I have to do to ensure this trip happens, visas are completed, vaccines taken, and everything else is packed and in place for such a big trip. I don’t really have the time, space, or extra funds to travel elsewhere. All my time, energy, and money is being funneled into Tanzania and Nigeria!

Recent Trip to Las Vegas

In last month’s newsletter, I mentioned how I was visiting Las Vegas again! I love Vegas so much, because you can visit and have a completely different experience every time.

This time around, I was invited to Las Vegas. My friend was in a bowling competition and she extended the invitation to me. I graciously accepted and patiently waited for May to come. Once the time came, I was off once again!

This time around, we went to different places and revisited ones we’ve been to before. This is just a snippet of what we did:

  • Revisit The Fremont Street Experience
  • Walked the strip
  • Visited the Shark Reef Aquarium at Mandalay Bay
  • Visited Death Valley National Park (I have a very interesting story about that)
  • Tried different restaurants (i.e Don Vito’s at South Point)
  • The Friends Exhibition

And much more! My friend and I were there for almost a week and we had a very good time! We always enjoy ourselves. And if you’re interested in visiting Las Vegas, I recommend visiting this time of year. Try visiting during the spring for cheaper prices and cooler weather.

Travel Content Goals

As for travel content, my goal this year is to create consistency and weekly goals that are realistic and attainable.

That means, creating tasks that I can achieve in a week and creating a system to create content that I can consistently stick to. I know I've slacked a bit the past couple of years with creating content. However, I'm truly dedicated to creating consistent content across my social media platforms, YouTube channel, and blog!

I'm still trying to find that balance of consistency with content creation. Each week looks different for me. Depending on what I've got going on, how I'm feeling, how tired I am, if I pick up extra shifts, it all affects my ability to be consistent with creating content. I'm still trying! However, I think that trying to balance this while working 3rd shift isn't working. I was more consistent when I had a day job and could work on my travel content in between work sessions, before, and after work! Nowadays, I can't keep my eyes open long enough to create something because I'm coming off 3rd shift hours.

Regardless, I'm still committed to creating content no matter if it's only a few times a week. Something is better than nothing, and consistency is something I'll always be working on.

Which, if you're not following me, any support would be appreciated. My handles are @jojoscupofmocha. I also started a new photography page on Instagram! My handle is @jcmtravellens. I wanted to dedicate separate platforms and pages to showcasing my travel and landscape photography, and the stories behind each location.

Hello! I hope you’ve been doing well and taking advantage of the summer! We had a bit of a heatwave where I live but this week the temperature has returned to normal. I haven’t been doing much other than working, getting things together for Kilimanjaro and Nigeria, and trying my best to look into freelancing, remote jobs, and travel UGC. This is going to be my last year at the organization I work for. Which means, I’m looking to transition into something new (after I’m back from Nigeria)....

Hello! Sorry I missed you in April! I had traveled to Puerto Rico (we’ll talk about that in a minute) in the beginning of the month. After that, I returned home and hit the ground running by working over 12 days straight 😩. Needless to say, the first few weeks of April were very busy and I didn’t have the time, space, or energy to create a newsletter. So, I’m getting back into the swing of it before my next trip in May and setting up May’s newsletter. Now, let’s get into some travel updates,...

Hello! Happy March! Spring is almost here and I am so ready for warmer weather and longer days! I'm also very happy and excited for my travel plans for this month and the rest of the year! Now, due to the global conflicts between the USA-Israel-Iran, I'm going to monitor the situation and how that may affect future travel plans. Overall, we still have our plans in place and if things change, we'll cross that bridge when we get there. In the meantime, let's get into my travel plans for this...
