✈️ How much I REALLY spent in Guatemala? 🇬🇹 News, Updates, FREEBIES!

Happy July!

We are half way through the year. Time is truly flying! Before you know it, it’ll be a new year.

But I won’t rush things so quickly. We’ll just enjoy the month while it lasts.

We’re kicking off this newsletter with some updates on my blog, discussing how much I spent on my solo trip to Guatemala, some travel news, and we’ll end it with a freebie!

How much I spent solo traveling Guatemala

Here’s the juicy stuff! I totaled everything I purchased prior to departing for Guatemala and what I purchased while traveling in Guatemala. These are the numbers:

  • Pre-arrival total: $1,239.02
    • Flight: $406.90
    • Accommodation (I bought my first two nights in GC prior to arrival): $37.94
    • Transportation & Tour (Semuc Champey, Lanquin, Flores): $284
    • Transportation (Flores to Antigua): $67
    • Activities (Acatenango day hike, Lake Atitlan tour, Tikal sunset tour): $436.59
    • Travel Insurance: $44.53
  • During trip total (see picture below): $656.79
  • Whole trip cost: $1,895.81

For a 10 day solo trip to Guatemala, $1,895.81 isn’t a terrible number! I could’ve made the trip even cheaper if I wanted to, I would’ve had to cut a few things out or down. Solo traveling on a budget is definitely doable! I’d say $1,200 to $2,000 for a 10 day solo trip is a good estimate of how much you’ll spend.

This is a rough estimate based on the amount I spent as a solo traveler traveling from the USA. Prices will vary depending on where you’re flying from, if you need visas and whatnot. If you’re more of a luxury traveler, then you’ll spend more than an average budget traveler.

Since I have a full-time job and like to combine vacation type of travel with backpack travel, I’d like to say I’m a mid-range type of budget traveler. So the total amount of my whole trip sort of tracks with a mid-range budget traveler.

Blog UPDATE!

Guess what?…my blog is LIVE! Finally, after 3 months of being inactive, it’s finally live and active again! You can check it out here. It’s been a long time in the making and I’m proud of how it turned out!

You can check out my blog posts, digital store to help with your packing needs, and all the travel information and tips from my travels!

I’ve already started (more like finishing) this blog post. I started it last year but didn’t get to finish, as the blog was undergoing some changes. Now, I’m back at it and trying to finish it up! It’ll be my first blog post to go live after 9 MONTHS of inactivity!

I cannot wait to get back into consistently blogging and providing information from my travels!

Photography Plan!

One of my goals I set in the beginning of the year was to work on my photography skills. I wanted to learn how to shoot pictures and footage in manual mode.

This means, learning more about aperture, ISO, shutter speed, white balance, and how all of them work together to create beautiful compositions and footage!

I’ve been working here and there on shooting pictures in manual mode. The hikes and activities I’ve been doing throughout the spring, I’ve taken my Panasonic LUMIX GH5 camera with the 12mm-35mm lens. I’ve been slowly but surely getting better because I’ve been practicing a lot more.

However, I’ve found that the lens that I have is very limiting. It’s great for portraits or close up travel/landscape type of scenery. Yet, if I’m trying to capture more wide range, long distance, landscapes on my travels, the 12-35mm lens falls short. So, I’ve been thinking about buying the 30-100mm lens from Panasonic! I need a better zoom lens with range and this lens has a bigger range for what I’d use it for.

I have it now and I’ve been using it to capture some nature shots on my hikes. But I cannot wait to use it while visiting the national parks while out in Vegas!

✈️ July Travel Plans ✈️

In July, I’m planning to go to Las Vegas! This will be my 4th time visiting Las Vegas.

While I’m not a gambler and I’m not about the night or party life, I love how there’s a variety of activities there. There’s lots to see and do, not to mention all the beautiful national parks you can visit that are outside of Vegas.

Why am I going back? Ever since I went to Vegas back in February, I’ve had this itch to visit Vegas on my own. There’s something about the hustle and bustle of Las Vegas. It makes me very happy and I cannot wait to return!

Though, I’m visiting during the hottest point of the year. Temperatures will get as high as 120F! But I’ve visited Vegas in July a few years ago, so I know what to expect and that I’ll be ok. As long as I stay hydrated and I’m not out for too long, it’ll be fun!

Hello! It is officially December! The last month of the year; the last month of 2025. I can't believe we've made it to the end of the year. But we've made it and I'm happy to see what the new year brings! This year was filled with a lot of ups and downs. I was thankful to travel or take trips this year but I cannot wait to plan more for 2026. I have a list of trips I'd like to take and that are already in the works. You'll soon see come the new year. But I will share some of my trip to...

Hello August! In a few days, September will be over. My apologies for the late newsletter, as I've been incredibly busy with work and I was on vacation for a week. Speaking of which, I just returned from Orlando and had the best time! I'll touch on it in a bit. I wanted to have a blog post up on the blog but that didn't happen. I managed to type it out but haven't edited it, added photos, etc. But now that I'm back from my vacation, I'm going to work on that. But if you haven't checked out...
